India General Elections 2024: Some states have reported violent incidents and faulty electronic voting machines; West Bengal recorded the highest voting percentage (76.89); Srinagar, hosting its first elections after Article 370 was repealed, had the lowest turnout (38%).

96 constituencies distributed across 10 States and union territories witnessed a voting turnout of 64.60% in the fourth round of the Lok Sabha elections on May 13 until 11 p.m. Several States have reported violent incidents and faulty electronic voting machines (EVMs).

In this round of voting, 1,717 candidates were running, and 17.7 crore voters cast ballots. This phase concludes the voting process for 379 seats in 23 states and union territories. The seven-phase general elections are set to conclude with the final three stages on May 20, May 25, and June 1, with counting on June 4.

The BJP secured 42 seats out of the 96 seats that were up for election on Monday. The YSR Congress secured 22 seats (in Andhra Pradesh), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi secured 9 (in Telangana), the Congress secured 6, the Trinamool Congress secured 4, the TDP secured 3, the BJD, the AIMIM, and the Shiv Sena secured 2 each, and the NCP, LJP, JD(U), and NC earned one each.

In Telangana’s Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, BJP candidate K. The state unit of the BJP claimed in a post on X that SP goons in the Bidhuna Assembly segment of the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency were preventing people from voting for the BJP and were engaging in booth capturing alongside the police and presiding officer.
